Timber Expo Theatre using Scotframe Val-U-Therm®
Scotframe have announced that they are supporting the Structural Timber Association by supplying Val-U-Therm for all the main structural panels of the main Seminar Theatre at Timber Expo. This provides an opportunity to showcase the Scotframe Val-U-Therm building system technology. The STA Seminar Theatre will host a range of keynote speakers from within the timber engineering and architectural sector under a range of themed Timber Focus seminars being organised by TRADA.
Timber Expo is the most important event on the UK construction calendar dedicated exclusively to timber. It is two days brimming with the latest products, innovations and developments across the timber sector – not just from the UK but from an increasingly exciting and diverse international market. It will take place on 7 & 8 October 2014 at The NEC, Birmingham B40 1NT.
Full details of Timber Expo can be obtained by visiting www.timber-expo.co.uk.
Scotframe are building this structure collaboratively with the assistance of Radar Communications so that fellow STA members have an opportunity to demonstrate their own latest developments. These include breather membrane & cladding solutions including render cladding, brick-slip & drylining; gaskets and seals; windows; sliding doors; fire protection coating; design & engineering and 3D BIM modelling. During Timber Expo the theatre will be known as Timber Focus Seminar Theatre 1.
The discussion around sustainability once centred on renewable technologies. Now the well-established, Fabric First approach has heightened awareness of the benefits of applying such building principles. As a result, the market demand for innovative products which deliver superior thermal and airtightness properties has dramatically increased.
The Timber Focus seminar programme will include a presentation by Bryan Woodley, Managing Director of Val-U-Therm Ltd., on “High Performance Building Envelope Design to Achieve PassivHaus Standards” - click here for download. This will include practical case histories where U-values as low as 0.09W/m2K, minimal thermal bridging and remarkable air tightness as low as 0.46 h-1 have been achieved. One of these was a Finalist in the Cost & Build-ability category for the UK PassivHaus Awards 2014 which emphasises the cost effectiveness of building to the highest fabric standards.
Adjacent to the Seminar Theatre seating area is the STA Lounge where members can host meetings or network throughout the event. Mike Cruickshank, Sales Director of Scotframe Timber Engineering, and Bryan Woodley, will both be on-hand to describe the many benefits of using Scotframe Val-U-Therm for a wide variety of construction projects.
