Scottish Enterprise Business Improvement Event

This workshop in Glasgow on Tuesday 25th June was set against the background that construction is going green and here is how… so don’t miss out.  Across the globe construction is being challenged to slash the carbon footprint of new buildings whilst cutting the cost of implementation.  What is Scotland doing to ensure these two challenges are being solved?

In its ‘Building for the Future’ strategy (2013-2016), Construction Scotland identifies the low carbon built environment as a key priority and area of opportunity.  Expansion in the low carbon products and services markets offers unparalleled growth opportunities for Scottish companies. Projections show low carbon building technology sales in Scotland increasing from £1.1bn to around £1.9bn by 2020.

Bryan Woodley, Managing Director of Val-U-Therm Limited, was very pleased to be invited to speak at this Scottish Enterprise Event.  He described the formation of Val-U-Therm Limited, a Joint Venture of two Scottish organisations Walker Timber Group & Scotframe which are also two of the largest timber frame manufacturers in the UK.

Bryan described the approach to develop & market Val-U-Therm as both a Scottish invention and a Scottish business noting that Val-U-Therm is the closed-panel building system that delivers exceptional thermal insulation and class-leading environmental sustainability. The Val-U-Therm building system won the Best Energy Efficiency/Sustainability Solution Award at Timber Expo 2012.  Woodley also discussed a series of Val-U-Therm case studies highlighting the space heating cost savings of various Fabric First solutions, showed how Val-U-Therm and the Fabric First approach can be used for volume construction projects and gave cost comparisons between Val-U-Therm and renewables solutions.

A copy of the presentation is available in video format on YouTube and on the Facts and Figures page of the Val-U-Therm website.

Val-U-Therm continues to also organise a series of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) events for architects, engineers and construction professionals around the UK.  Val-U-Therm can provide these seminars in a client’s offices if required.  To register your interest in these CPD seminars contact Bryan Woodley (
