These cover Val-U-Therm and Val-U-Therm Plus wall, floor and roof panels, for use above the damp-proof course in constructions up to four storeys high (including room-in-roof) as the loadbearing inner leaf of external walls, loadbearing internal walls, single or double leaves of separating walls, infill panels, floor panels or pitched/flat roofing panels.
An Agrément Certificate is only awarded to a construction product or system after it has successfully passed a comprehensive assessment involving laboratory testing, on-site evaluations and inspections of production. The manufacturer will also be audited ensuring that a suitable quality management system is in place.
The Agrément Certification includes: factors relating to compliance with Building Regulations where applicable; factors relating to additional non-regulatory information where applicable; independently verified technical specification; assessment criteria and technical investigations; design considerations; installation guidance; regular surveillance of production and a formal three-yearly review. Key factors assessed include structural performance; condensation risk; thermal performance; behaviour in relation to fire; sound insulation and durability, noting that the panels will have a 60-year minimum service life provided that they are protected from damage by the external and internal finishes.
Regular monitoring of the product manufacture by the BBA takes place twice a year with a full and comprehensive reassessment every three years. Agrément Certificates are recognised by building control, government departments, architects, local authorities, specifiers and industry insurers like the NHBC
and Premier Guarantee.
